British cybersecurity company Cossack Labs helped Ukrenergo, Ukraine’s national energy company, to enhance the security of its critical power grid infrastructure. Cossack Labs, renowned for tackling complex security challenges through specialised research and development, brought its deep expertise to develop cutting-edge solutions to effectively counter targeted cyberattacks and physical threats.
The project was implemented with the support of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) through the USAID Cybersecurity for Critical Infrastructure in Ukraine Activity. It helped Ukrenergo strengthen its cybersecurity posture, which ensures a reliable and uninterrupted power supply for the Ukrainian people, particularly amidst ongoing security concerns.
National Power Company Ukrenergo is a private joint stock company with 100% state-owned shares, managed by the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine. Ukrenergo is a certified in accordance with the ISO model and in compliance with the EU’s Third Energy Package transmission system operator of Ukraine with the functions of operational and technological control of the Integrated Power System of Ukraine (IPS), transmission of electricity via trunk power grids from generation to distribution networks, as well as commercial metering administrator and settlement administrator in the electricity market of Ukraine.
The USAID Cybersecurity for Critical Infrastructure in Ukraine Activity strengthens the resilience of Ukraine’s critical infrastructure from cyberattacks by establishing trusted collaboration between key cybersecurity stakeholders in the government, private sector, academia, and civil society.
